One thing I really like about Seattle is that there are so many food choices. It can satisfy everyone, regardless of whether you’re eating on a frugal budget or you’re looking for a luxurious dining experience. This summer, we discovered a few great places in the city that serve tasty food at a valuable price. Below I listed out 5 spots that Kev and I will definitely go back next time we visit Seattle! If I were asked to choose the most vibrant neighborhood in Calgary, it would definitely be Kensington. Nowhere is more lively and trendy than this district in Calgary city. With more than 250 unique shops and restaurants, you could easily spend a day or an entire weekend there. In the summer, it is busy with all the fun events and festivals you could join. Never a dull moment. Click to read more!
Happy Friday everyone! Any burger lover out there? Kev and I had a burger fever on our Las Vegas trip last Christmas. Just thought I would share with you our eatery adventure in celebration of all the hard work you put in for the week. This is my first time joining the Fiesta Friday community. Thanks Angie and The Novice Gardener for putting together this weekly Friday party. Hope you all have an awesome weekend!
Max Brenner Chocolate by the Bald Man@ Caesar Palace
Max Brenner is my all time favorite. I first knew about it when I was in NYC. From then on, I am addicted to it. When I went back to Asia, I was delighted to find their Singapore branch to continue feeding my Max Brenner addiction. When I found out there’s also a branch in Las Vegas, I was overjoyed! XD Too bad this branch is now permanently closed, but we could still satiate our hunger through photos 😛
The restaurant was conveniently located inside the Forum Shops at Caesar Palace.
Kev finally took me to the Italian restaurant where he used to go to on first dates. The restaurant is spacious and sorts of look like a diner with homey atmosphere. It wasn’t too busy on Sunday evening, but there were decent amount of customers coming and going.
Fiore’s has $9.99 pasta special on Sunday. Kev loves meat and cheese so he ordered the lasagna fiorentina. I prefer something spicy with a bit veggies so I ordered the fusilli arriabiatta.
My fusilli arriabitatta came with red and green peppers and bacon bits in the tomato sauce (which tasted peppery spicy). The pasta was nicely done- not too hard, not too mushy. I finished the whole plate (which was rare when it comes to pasta). The only disappointment was that there wasn’t a lot of bacon in it. I think there were only 3~4 tiny bits in the whole plate.
The lasagna was cheesy and meaty- just the way Kev liked. There was some spinach inside, but no ricotta cheese.
In general, the quality of food was what we expected for the price. It is definitely something you can make it at home, but if you’re feeling lazy, it is somewhere to go for a meal at a reasonable price. We don’t mind going back for the pasta specials!
My review: It is like Hershey’s bulk of miniature chocolate. There is a good variety of choices to try on. The food is decent and cheap.
Last weekend, we tried the Italian restaurant in South Calgary that we heard serves authentic Italian food. The restaurant is located unnoticeably in a plaza.
We didn’t make a reservation for that evening. The servers were checking the table charts and it seemed that they were quite booked that day. At the end, they accommodated us and gave us a table 🙂
The classy look of the restaurant immediately set high expectations for the quality of food and services. Before our main dishes have arrived, Kev was devouring the warm, fresh-out-of-the-oven bread. I was saving some room in the stomach for the pasta.
Fettucine con gamberi is the pasta served with onions, mushrooms, baby and jumbo shrimp in spicy tomato sauce. The pasta is the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. The texture is really good and you can definitely tell that it is homemade. It is chewy, but its thickness is just about right that it immediately dissolves in your mouth. The tomato sauce is simple. The seafood gives it a richer flavor. I usually can’t finish the whole plate of pasta in a single meal, but that evening, I just couldn’t stop eating because the pasta is just fantastic!
Kev ordered the lasagna. The cheese goes well with the tomato sauce. It is not too salty or cheesy. The pasta is nicely cooked but definitely not as good as the fettucine.
My review: I will rate this place like the Lindor chocolate. It is fancy, upscale restaurant that serves fantastic food at fairly affordable price. It is highly recommended that you try their pasta on your first visit. Also, remember to make a reservation because it is a very busy place!
